Short Description:

In today's podcast we'll talk about piano keyboard layout. You can find a post about this (with diagrams) here.
  • To play the piano, you have to know where which key is located.
  • The piano has 88 black and white keys.
  • White keys are called naturals.
  • Black keys are called both flats and sharps.
  • If you look closely at your keyboard, you will see that keys are organized into groups.
  • There is a repeating 12-note pattern, which consists of a set of 2 and 3 black keys, and 7 white keys.
  • Basically, you just have to remember 7 notes - A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
  • Where is C note? C note is always the white key located just before a set of 2 black keys.
  • Middle C is a C note closest to the middle of the keyboard.
